Now that you have your setup to make your video, it’s time to film! I recommend batching your tasks for this if you need to do any prep work. Here’s how I batch when doing pins for myself and my clients:
- Print the pages that will be filmed
- Prep what you need to prep. This includes coloring, cutting, gluing, etc. You could also choose to do some of this while you film to show the product in action.
- Set up your product under the lighting and put your phone on the mount.
- Make sure your phone is looking directly through the ring light if that’s what you’re using.
- Do some filming! Make sure to do an overhead view of your product. You can always hold your phone and pan over it. Try a few different angles!
- Make sure your backdrop looks good with the product and under the lighting.
- Use props or bright paper behind your product to bring it out a little bit more! I usually layer Astrobrites underneath. I also use patterned paper and some other colors.
- Snap a few pictures before cleaning up your product!
- You can always take the sound off of your footage, so don’t worry too much about background noise.
Filming shouldn’t be too difficult. Just make sure that your phone is high enough on its mount so your product isn’t too “close.” You may have to play around with it a little bit. You can be as fancy as you want with staging, or just have your products laid out on the backdrop. You will find a style that suits you and your brand best!
Supplies I use while filming:
I use a variety of colored and patterned papers. I like to try to make the backdrops/props match my client’s brand. Look for paper and patterns that fit your product or your store! You can just set the pages of your product on top of the paper.
